Information Security

Endpoint and server protection with EDR and XDR

Most attacks start on one employee's computer: an attachment, a link in an email or a leaked password. An EDR solution detects suspicious behavior on computers and servers, responds to it automatically, and shows exactly what happened. We choose a leading EDR solution that fits your business, deploy it in an orderly way and tune it so it really protects.

Elad personally oversees every project and makes sure it runs at the highest standard, from the first review to handover.

Why antivirus is no longer enough

Traditional antivirus looks for malicious files it already knows. But attackers today use new tools, change their code constantly, and often use no malicious file at all: they log in with a stolen password and use the legitimate tools already on the computer. An EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) solution works differently. It follows the behavior of processes on every computer and server, detects attack patterns such as sudden file encryption or attempts to steal passwords, and can stop the process and isolate the computer from the network. XDR widens the picture and brings together information from endpoints, email, identities and the network in one place.

The tool alone is not enough. An EDR solution installed with default settings, whose alerts nobody looks at, gives a sense of security but not protection. We choose with you a leading solution that fits the size of the business and the environment, deploy it gradually across all endpoints and servers, define an automatic response policy, tune exclusions so it does not get in the way of work, and harden the endpoints themselves. That way protection is part of the information security of the whole business, rather than standing alone.

When it matters

When should you deal with endpoint protection?

If one of these sounds familiar, it is time to review how your computers and servers are protected.

Only basic antivirus

The computers run a free or outdated antivirus that only detects known threats.

Employees at home and in the field

Laptops work outside the office, and there is no way to see what happens on them or respond when something is suspicious.

Concern about ransomware

A ransomware attack starts on one computer and spreads. Early detection is the difference between a problem on one machine and a business shutdown.

No idea what happened

There was a suspicious event, and no information about what ran on the computer, where it came from or where it spread.

Cyber insurance or a customer requires it

Cyber insurance, a supplier questionnaire or ISO 27001 requires EDR protection on endpoints and servers.

A tool installed and forgotten

There is a protection solution, but it runs on default settings, some computers are not covered, and nobody checks the alerts.

What's included

Protection chosen, deployed and tuned for your business

We start by reviewing the current state, and build a plan that fits the business.

Current state review

Mapping every endpoint and server, what is installed on them today, and which devices are not protected at all.

Deliverable: coverage map

Choosing a leading solution

Choosing an EDR or XDR solution that fits the size of the business, the environment and the budget, without paying for features you will not use.

Deliverable: reasoned recommendation

Gradual deployment

Installation in stages, from a test group to all endpoints and servers, including computers that work outside the office.

Deliverable: full endpoint coverage

Automatic response policy

Defining what the system does when it detects a threat: stopping the process, quarantining files and isolating the computer from the network.

Deliverable: active protection policy

Tuning exclusions

Adapting to the systems and software the business works with, to reduce false alerts without opening gaps.

Deliverable: tuned policy

Endpoint hardening

System updates, reducing local admin rights, disk encryption and turning off unnecessary services.

Deliverable: hardened endpoints

Protecting computers outside the office

Laptops are protected and report even when they are at home, in the field or abroad.

Deliverable: protection everywhere

Alerts and reporting

Setting alerts to the right people, and a report showing the protection status and the events detected.

Deliverable: protection status report

Ongoing support and alert handling

With ongoing support we review alerts, handle them and update the policy as the business changes.

Deliverable: periodic report
Process

How it works

Four stages, with a gradual deployment that lets each step be checked.

1. Introduction and review

We learn how the business works, which computers and servers it has, and what is installed on them today.

2. Selection and design

Choosing the solution, designing the policy and the deployment order, approved with you before we start.

3. Deployment and tuning

We install in stages, start with a test group, and tune exclusions before extending to the whole organization.

4. Handover and training

You receive a full status report, and whoever needs it on your side gets training on the console and the alerts.

Deliverables

What stays with you at the end

Everything belongs to you, so your IT provider can carry on from the same point.

  • A coverage map of all endpoints and servers.
  • A documented protection and response policy.
  • A list of exclusions, with the reason for each.
  • A summary of endpoint hardening.
  • A protection status report at the end of deployment.
  • A short procedure: what to do when an alert arrives.
Why Marom Cyber

Protection tuned to your business, with personal oversight

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about EDR and endpoint protection

If anything is unclear, you can always ask us directly.

What is the difference between antivirus and EDR?
Antivirus looks for known malicious files. EDR follows the behavior of everything running on the computer, detects new attacks or ones that use no malicious file, and can respond automatically and record exactly what happened.
What is XDR?
XDR extends EDR beyond endpoints, bringing in information from email, identities, the cloud and the network. That way you can detect an attack that moves between several systems, not only on one computer.
Does it slow down the computers?
Usually the performance impact is small. During the gradual deployment we check the impact on a test group, and tune exclusions before extending to the whole organization.
What happens when the system detects a threat?
Depending on the defined policy, the system can stop the suspicious process, quarantine files and isolate the computer from the network, while sending an alert to the designated people.
Does EDR protect against ransomware?
A well-tuned EDR is one of the most important layers against ransomware, because it can detect abnormal encryption and stop it early. Together with an isolated backup, hardened accounts and a properly segmented network, it is part of complete protection.
Which solutions do you work with?
We work with leading EDR and XDR solutions, and the recommendation is always based on the needs of the business, the environment and the budget. If you already have a solution, we will check with you whether it is right to keep it and tune it again.
We already have a protection solution. Can you just review it?
Absolutely. Reviewing the coverage, policy and alerts of the existing solution is an excellent starting point, and you get an orderly list of what is worth improving.
Does it protect computers that work from home too?
Yes. Protection is installed on the computer itself, so it works and reports even when the computer is outside the office network.
Do you provide support after deployment?
Absolutely, if that suits you. With ongoing support we review alerts, handle them, tune the policy and make sure every new computer is protected. The scope is set to your needs.
How much does it cost?
The price depends on the number of endpoints and servers, the chosen solution and the scope of support. After an introductory call and a review you will receive a clear proposal with a defined scope and price.
